The Grapes
Riesling is known to produce 7 different wine styles, depending on climate and winemaking skills. This wine from Helm is thought to be the first of a new style, using Riesling to produce a rosé with a little help from Cabernet sauvignon. It shows yet again the versatility of Riesling the “Queen of grapes”.
Helm Wines have been researching for 4 years how to produce a Rose’ style from Riesling. This wine is made from Riesling pressings 95+% and some free run Cabernet Sauvignon, to give it colour and texture.
The Wine
This is the first commercial release. Salmon pink colour, fresh citrus and ripe berry aromas. Clean, fresh, soft fruity flavours balanced by soft acidity, and soft tannin.
Serve with
Like all of our Rieslings, this wine can be paired with numerous dishes. A lovely wine on a hot summer day with prawns, cheese or some melon fruits.
Cellar for
As this is the first of its kind we cannot predict how it will age but with Riesling as its heritage, we would expect at least 10 years.
