Riesling Classic Dry

Our Classic Dry Riesling is made from grapes sourced from the Helm estate and our vineyards within The Valley in which the Helm winery is situated. The Helm estate vineyard contains the oldest Riesling vines in the Canberra district—planted in 1974. This is Helm Wines’ 47th Riesling vintage and is Ken Helm’s 78th year.

The Grapes

The 2023 vintage was the 3rd coolest vintages in 50 years. It started with floods, hail, and cool wet conditions, which continued through to the coolest summer on record with two days of light frosts in mid-December.  Dry warm condition started in January and continued through to Harvest, resulting in late harvests. Riesling excelled with incredible flavours, crisp acid and perfectly balanced palate. Yields were average or above.  A Riesling year to remember.

The Wine

Powerful citrus blossom aroma. Clean and fresh, crunchy green apples, minerality and lime cordial flavours balanced by intense citrus-like acidity. Lingering refreshing finish.

Serve with

Like all of our Rieslings, this wine can be paired with numerous dishes. It especially complements Asian cuisines and seafood.

Cellar for

Built to last, the wine can be enjoyed now while it is young and crisp, or cellared for up to 10 years which will allow it to mellow and toasty honey flavours to develop.
