The Grapes
The 2023 vintage was the 3rd coolest vintages in 50 years. A very European vintage. It started with floods, hail, and cool wet conditions, which continued through to the coolest summer on record with two days of light frosts in mid-December. Dry warm conditions started in January and continued through to Harvest, resulting in late harvests. Riesling excelled with incredible flavours, crisp acid and perfectly balanced palate. Yields were average or above. A Riesling year to remember.
The Wine
Bright, light green colour, lime and lemon citrus aromas, the palate juicy, soft and fruity. A very smart halbtrocken style of Riesling.
Serve with
Great with spicy Thai, Chinese or Indian flavours where the sweetness of the wine balances out the heat.
Cellar for
The balance of acid and sugar in this wine means it is perfect to drink and enjoy now. If kept for longer than two years the wine will start to develop sweeter lime cordial flavours.
